Smith & Wesson M&P15 Sport II AR15 Review
Made in the US by Smith & Wesson, you can expect the same great quality of the M&P15 Sport II as you would with any other Smith & Wesson gun.
This Smith & Wesson M&P15 Sport II is a high quality AR15 with the ability to fire both .223 and 5.56 NATO rounds, making it worth every cent.
To test their own reliability, Smith & Wesson had two of their M&P15 Sport II AR15s fire 160,000 rounds to ensure that they would still be fully functionable after so many shots. After 160,000 rounds, the rifles functioned perfectly, and the M&P15 Sport II AR15s managed to hold their own.
Smith & Wesson coats these rifles with a Melonite finish, allowing them to handle heat, sand, dust, or water. The bolt carrier and gas tube are chromed to make cleaning easy and prevent errosion. The lower receiver is made with 7075 T6 aluminum – so it is as tough as steel, but much more resistant to errosion.
SMITH & WESSON M&P15 SPORT II AR15 – DEFINITELY WORTH BUYING!
Not all guns are worth the money, but this one definitely is.
Every M&P Sport II AR15 comes standard with some awesome features – an upgraded 30-round MagPul magazine, a flip up MagPul MBUS rear sight, and a 1/8″ “gain twist.” This AR15 is super accurate up to 100 yards, even the first time you shoot it.
The M&P Sport II AR15 also comes standard with a Picatinny style rail – perfect for mounting night vision, reflex sights, a carry handle, or any other optic you would like to add.
The barrel on the Smith & Wesson has a cool innovation. The 1/8″ twist starts longer, but becomes a perfect 1/8″ twist at the top of the barrel. This helps to “stabilize” the bullet before it is even released from the barrel.
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE M&P SPORT II AND THE STANDARD M&P15
The Smith & Wesson M&P15 Sport II AR15 was not designed for battle. It was designed for sport. According to our friends at The Truth About Guns, “The M&P15 Sport will likely live out its days in a case or safe, with semi-regular forays to the range or the woods.”
This is not to say that this rifle is unreliable, because it certainly is, and it is high quality, too. However, it does make for a better sporting rifle than battle firearm.
The main difference between the M&P15 Sport II and the M&P15 is that the Sport II does not have a dust cover or forward assist. Our friends over at The Truth About Guns tested hundreds of rounds through the M&P Sport 15 II and discovered that the dust cover was not necessary for the shooting enviroments this rifle was designed for – the range, or hunting, or woods excursions, etc.
THE M&P15 SPORT II IS INCREDIBLY RELIABLE AND VERY AFFORDABLE! BUY WHILE WE STILL HAVE IT IN STOCK!
